…from liberrydwarf.

Do you snack while watching TV? Yes. Absolutely. In fact, do I snack when not watching TV? I don’t think so.

What is your favourite TV show? Currently or of all time? Because my favourite show of all time is probably „The West Wing“. With current shows…“Doctor Who“. The usual caveat, though – ask me again in 10 mins and the answers will have changed.

What TV show makes you run to change channels? most sitcoms, gossip bull***, sports programmes that aren’t skiing (or the World Cup…but that one’s not my fault…it’s a genetic thing.)

How do you view your TV guide: online, on-screen, newspaper, magazine, other? Generally, that button on the remote. I use the weekly TV guide in the newspaper to find out which great/classic/wanted-to-watch-for-a-long-time movies that I won’t see because they’re on at impossible times.

Have you ever been surveyed for your TV-viewing habits or do you know anyone who has been? No. And no.

Do you watch TV news and/or current affairs regularly? Um…you could say that. Regularly, yes. That’s a good word. If „regularly“ can also be taken to mean „constantly, from the morning (when I’m listening while making coffee, then with the coffee in hand, then – with growing comprehension – as the coffee takes effect) throughout the day (it’s in the background unless I’m actively watching something else, and I tune in is anything grabs my attention) until late at night (when the headlines are the last thing I watch before bed)“. I might be ever so slightly obsessed. Ahem.

Do you watch any TV “soaps”? (Truth please, even if it is embarrassing.) I used to watch „McLeod’s Daughters“. For the horses, obviously.

What other series shows do you try not to miss? There’s nothing on TV that I try not to miss. I’m an evil person who is single-handedly destroying the entertainment industry by downloading stuff from the US or the UK, because I don’t like the dubbing…or the wait…or the may-not-ever-come-to-German-TV-ness. But there are shows I try not to miss, although it’s only „Dr Who“ and „Lie To Me“ at the moment, because everything else I like is already/still on hiatus.

Any previous series or shows you really liked? Lots. Lotsandlotsandlots. Too many to mention. From „The Black Stallion“ (cute boy + beautiful horse = superhappy Mini-Me) all the way to „Dead Like Me“ and „Joan of Arcadia“ and „Firefly“ and…

Do you have pay TV or are the digital channels enough? PayTV, schmayTV…I have harnessed the power of the Internetz (BWAHAHAHAHAHA….)

Do you only watch certain TV shows online? No? I get them online and watch them offline. The last show I watched online was „Sailor Moon“, on YouTube. (Yes, I did that. Don’t judge.)

Do you regularly use services like ABC catch-up or other online replays? No.

Do you ever pay any attention to the adverts? No…they sort of go through my head without touching the sides ^^

Do you multi-task while watching TV & if so what else are you doing? Yes. I read stuff (not books, but feeds, etc.), or I keep half an eye on the news on the other screen, or I cook. Well,…I do unmentionably cruel things to perfectly innocent foodstuffs, and I do it with glee and in the kitchen, so…“cooking“.

Is there a TV show that makes you laugh out loud? Ohhhh yes. Some even manage it on purpose.

Have you ever said no to a social invitation to stay at home and watch TV? (Truth again please.) Mind telling us what the show was? Yes. (This is made doubly antisocial by the fact that I watch stuff that’s ready and waiting on my very own harddrive, but there you go…) Different shows. Whichever I felt like watching rather than being a sociable person.

Do you record TV shows & if so why and how (VCR, DVD recorder, TIVO, laptop, etc.)? The VCR hasn’t been working since we got the satellite receiver thingy, and nobody seems to have missed it, but it’s still there, because nobody has needed the space, either. I’d love a DVR (because of all those movies at impossible times), but for now my laptop is enough to keep me happy.

Least favourite TV personality/actor/character? Austrian? Alfons Haider. German-speaking, generally? Very nearly every single German comedian on TV. Charlie Sheen, Fran Drescher’s „Nanny“ … and many, many more.

Most popular TV personalities/actors/character? Huh…Penelope Garcia, from „Criminal Minds“, Abby Sciuto and Hetty Lang from NCIS/NCIS LA, and lots of others…Jon Snow’s ties. And AlJazeera International’s Pakistan correspondent, purely because of the always-same cadence he signs off with („KaMAL HYdeeeer, alJAzeeraaaaaaaaaa, paKIStaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan“).

Have you ever seen anything really memorable on TV (not news/events – made for TV drama, etc.)? Lots of things. Individual episodes of shows, mostly, and documentaries. The Beeb’s „Planet Earth“ blew me away the first time I saw it. Also a live autopsy, a C-section, an insect-porn-musical.

Do you prefer TV series or stand-alone shows? Series. Stand-alone shows for comedy…like „QI“ and „HIGNFY“.

Is there a specific show you find yourself recommending over and over? I recommend different shows to different people, so there isn’t much I recommend over and over again. The only exception is „Midsomer Murders“, which I’ve been recommending to my grandmother since forever, because she would love it, and which I’ll have to keep recommending until she finally gives it a try.

I didn’t know that Macleod’s Daughters had made it over to Europe! I don’t know whether to be patriotically proud or just really really sorry :)

I think you can be proud.
      1) It’s more successful than the US stuff that’s on. I’m not even kidding. More successful than „The Bold and the Beautiful“ (I have a grandmother…what can I say?), more successful even than „Ugly Betty“. Like, DVD and soundtrack sales successful. (What that says about us is another matter)
      2) Austrians finally have a chance to get a look at where people _think_ we come from.
      3) When they aren’t seeing ghosts or listening to the wind or getting visions from haunted trinkets or whatever, it’s not actually that bad.
      4) It’s not „Neighbours“ ^^

  2. We love Glee but doesn’t everyone :) Still remember the first glimpse of Aussie shows in the form of ‚Neighbours‘ and more importantly ‚Prisoner Cell Block H‘ now that was television to stay up for!!!
